Frequently asked questions
AI in automotive retail – the most important answers
Everything car dealership decision-makers need to know about carpilot.ai, our AI agents, integration and data protection.
What is carpilot.ai?+−
carpilot.ai is a German provider of specialized AI assistants (AI agents) for automotive retail. The solutions automate selected processes in sales, CRM and customer communication at car dealerships – including the pre-qualification of incoming leads, the reactivation of old leads and outreach to finance and lease maturities. carpilot.ai is operated by HC Digital Services GmbH, based in Kaiserslautern.
Which processes in the car dealership can be automated with carpilot.ai?+−
carpilot.ai automates recurring, data-driven tasks in sales and customer communication: the pre-qualification of incoming vehicle inquiries across all channels, the structured processing of leasing and financing expiries, the reactivation of unfinished old leads and the translation of manufacturer leads into the dealership's own systems. The Individual Assistant can also be used to map individual processes for which there is no standard solution.
What is the difference between Lead Assistant, Sales Assistant and Individual Assistant?+−
The Lead Assistant handles the initial contact for incoming vehicle inquiries and automatically enriches leads with missing information before they are passed on to the salesperson. The Sales Assistant structures active contact processes such as reactivating old leads or outreach to lease and finance maturities. The Individual Assistant is a customized variant that maps the specific processes of an individual car dealership when standard modules are not sufficient.
Is carpilot.ai GDPR-compliant and where is the data hosted?+−
Yes. carpilot.ai is hosted entirely in Germany and relies on its own AI infrastructure with its own language models. Customer data is not used to train external models and does not leave the controlled infrastructure. The solution is therefore GDPR-compliant and designed to meet the regulatory requirements of the automotive industry in the DACH region.
Is our customer data used to train AI models?+−
No. The data of carpilot.ai customers is processed exclusively for the agreed processes within the respective dealership. There is no transfer to external model providers and no training of external or shared AI models with this data. Car dealerships retain full control over their customer and lead data.
How does carpilot.ai integrate with existing CRM and DMS systems in the dealership?+−
carpilot.ai is designed to integrate seamlessly into the existing system landscape of a car dealership without the need for processes to be changed or new tools to be operated by employees. The assistants work in the background and communicate with CRM, DMS and lead platforms via standardized interfaces. Car dealerships do not need any additional logins, and the results of the AI flow directly into the sales staff's familiar tools.
How long does it take to introduce an AI agent with carpilot.ai?+−
The introduction is deliberately designed for a lean start. As carpilot.ai is based on a flexible workflow system, existing retail processes can be mapped instead of changing them. A typical pilot project starts with a clearly defined use case – such as the automated pre-qualification of incoming leads – and can then be gradually rolled out to other processes or locations. The actual duration depends on the scope, interfaces and internal approvals and is assessed individually during a demo appointment.
What distinguishes carpilot.ai from generic chatbots or ChatGPT?+−
Generic chatbots and consumer AI such as ChatGPT are not tailored to the specific processes, terms and systems of automotive retail and generally do not meet the data protection requirements or integration needs of a car dealership. In contrast, carpilot.ai is a specialized B2B service: with industry-specific workflows, connection to CRM and lead systems, German hosting, its own AI infrastructure and a clearly defined range of functions aimed at measurably reducing the burden on the dealership's day-to-day business.
Will carpilot.ai replace the salesperson in the dealership?+−
No. carpilot.ai is expressly designed as an assistance system, not as a replacement for sales staff. The AI takes over repetitive, data-driven tasks – such as obtaining missing information for an inquiry or the initial response to a lease expiry – and hands over qualified contacts to the sales team. This frees up time for salespeople for precisely those conversations in which human expertise makes the difference.
Which car dealerships and dealer groups are already using carpilot.ai?+−
carpilot.ai is used by renowned dealer groups in German-speaking countries, including the Süverkrüp Group, LUEG, Hedin Automotive, Nord-Ostsee Automobile, Autowelt Schmidt, Sternauto, Sternpartner, Wackenhut, Kaltenbach Gruppe and Pappas. Further public references are documented in the case studies on carpilot.ai.
What measurable results can be achieved with carpilot.ai?+−
The results vary depending on the use case and initial situation. Examples from documented case studies: At Autowelt Schmidt, the proportion of unsuitable B2B vehicle inquiries was reduced by around 90 percent. At Nord-Ostsee Automobile, the quality of leasing inquiries was significantly improved thanks to automated self-assessment. At Süverkrüp, leads are fully pre-qualified across all channels before they reach the sales department.
What does carpilot.ai cost?+−
carpilot.ai is offered as a B2B SaaS solution, the price of which depends on the number of assistants used, the number of locations and the required interfaces. A binding offer is prepared as part of a demo appointment in which the specific use case and the expected data volume are jointly evaluated.
